CMC Corporation, one of the leading information and communications technology (ICT) groups in Vietnam, opened its subsidiary in Yokohama city of Kanagawa prefecture on November 7.
This move is a result of the “Select Kanagawa 100” initiative, which aims at inviting 100 foreign enterprises to invest in Kanagawa prefecture.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the five-star Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu, with the presence of Governor Kanji Kuroiwa Yuji of Kanagawa Prefecture and Prefecture representatives, Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong and Deputy Minister of Ministry of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong. CMC’s board of directors included President Nguyen Trung Chinh and CMC Japan Chief Executive Officer Kumeda Masakuni.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Yuji Kuroiwa, Governor of Kanagawa, said that the prefecture organised investment promotion seminars in Hanoi in January and July in order to call for investments from Vietnamese businesses.
The prefecture worked with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) to assist the CMC Corporation in opening its subsidiary in Japan.
A representative from the CMC Corporation said that CMC Japan is located in Yokohama of Kanagawa prefecture as the locality has a lot of preferential policies supporting newly-established companies like CMC Japan.
The company will work to provide high-quality software engineers as well as comprehensive IT services for consumers in Japan, the representative confirmed.
