CMC Telecom – the pioneer of GPON technology in Vietnam
Back to 2008, 11 years since November 19th, 1997 when Vietnam first and officially joined the Internet global trend, CMC Telecom was established. Under CMC Corporation’s strategy, CMC Telecom would be the pioneer to provide ICT and telecommunications solutions to enterprises.
In 2009, CMC Telecom was the pioneer in commercial GPON deployment providing FTTx Internet after one year of research, design, order and successful pilot deployment. At that time, while technologies such as AON and EPON were dominant, GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) was only standardized and deployed in Europe.
