Chairman of CMC petitioned the Government to “assign work” to the private sector to develop the digital economy

According to the World Bank, by 2025, the economy will contribute 23,000 billion USD and 25% of GDP for the global economy. However, petitions from the private sector in the morning have assessed that Vietnam is implementing a number of slow transition compared to other countries in the region, in ASEAN there have been 3 countries claiming to be Singapore government, Malaysia and Thailand.

According to Mr. Chinh, digital economy is the only way for Vietnam to develop and escape the middle income trap. Mr. Chinh represented private entrepreneurs to raise 3 proposals to the government:
1. Need to accelerate and perfect the legal institutions for the development of digital economy.
2. Need research on whether to rename the National Development Project, build the National Committee for Digital Transformation?
3. The Government should “assign” to the private sector, what the private sector can do, so that it can do it privately, reducing the “doing it” part of the state agencies.

Mr. Chinh also on behalf of the private sector committed to mobilizing human resources, financial resources and other necessary conditions to support the Government: “We are determined to make Vietnam a” Digital Hub “of region, ie a regional center of transition – connectivity – storage – digital service provision. ”

Speaking at the plenary session, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc (Politburo member and Prime Minister) also affirmed the Party and State’s consistent policy of building a multi-sector economy, in which the private economy it is an important driving force for the economy, creating 42% of GDP, attracting 83.3% of the labor force nationwide. “We have witnessed a positive pace of economic development, 2018 is the fourth consecutive year the country has a record number of established businesses. The government continuously encourages businesses to develop, the economy is only strong when there are global competitive businesses. ”

Earlier in the morning, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh chaired a discussion session on the topic “Private sector for economic development”, where 23 delegates came from management agencies and businesses. private comments in 5 main areas: Establishing national goals for digital economic development, Digital infrastructure development, Building and developing open data in Vietnam, Payment development solutions Cashless, Establish authentication – electronic identifier, information security and security in Vietnam. This is a special discussion session aimed at promoting the resources, voice, intelligence and strong support of the private sector in addressing key issues in digital economic development.

At the discussion session, Mr. Dang Tung Son – Deputy General Director and Marketing Director of CMC Telecom) commented on the construction of digital infrastructure in Vietnam: “We talk a lot about IoT, 5G … but new are in the connection section, not to mention the data. Data is usually stored in traditional Data Centers and recently Cloud. Currently, transshipment data in Asia are connecting mainly in Singapore and Hong Kong, but within the next 2 years, Amazon has announced Data Center investment in Asia. So building Digital Hub in Vietnam will play an important role in content linking and digital data, connecting Vietnam with the globe. ”
