CMC Telecom operates APG’sa high-bandwidthsubsea cable

CMC Telecom will be officially put APG into operation in mid-December, 2016. It’s the first international submarine cable which CMC Telecom invest in mining, which help the company became one of the leading telecom operators Vietnam owned international subsea cable. This is not only provides a stable connection with a larger capacity for Internet users, but also has great significance for the position of ownership and exploitation of CMC Telecom’s international network.

APG’s a high-bandwidth subsea cable

On December 2012, the Prime Minister has approved of CMC Telecom participating and investing projects “Subsea cable system Asia – Pacific – APG” (Official Letter No. 1630 / TTg-IR). After 4 years, on December 31st 2016, APG was officially completed and closely connected after 1.5 months of testing, CMC Telecom is ready to take APG to serve customers.

With a total length of 10,400 km, the APG network delivers a capacity of more than 54 Tbps and this figures bring nearly 20 times faster than AAG cable. APG is a subsea cable using the latest technology: 40Gbps/01 wavelength (capable of transferring technology to 100Gbps/01 wavelength) for direct connection from Asia – Pacific to the largest economies: USA Australia, India, Africa with high capacity which meet the exponentially growing bandwidth demand in Asia. APG project has attracted many large telecom businesses in Asia such as NTT Docomo (Japan), China Telecom (China) and KT (Korea) …

This is the first time, CMC Telecom invests and owns international subsea cable, Mr. Son Dang Tung, Deputy General Director of CMC Telecom said: “APG has stable quality, based on the geographical location as well as using the latest technology, which is the reason why CMC Telecom chooses to invest and exploit their customer service.”

According to CMC Telecom, since mid-2015, this company is also investing project technology backbone network 100Gbps per wavelength. This project of CMC Telecom has a total length of backbone up to 2,000 km, is expected to put into operating between 2017.
